At the Running to Daylight Foundation, we are dedicated to advocating for the health and wellbeing of elderly individuals, ensuring they receive the timely, quality medical care they need. Many older adults face barriers to accessing appropriate health services, from financial challenges to limited mobility and lack of resources. We work tirelessly to bridge these gaps and bring essential care directly to our aging population.
Our Mission is to bring light to the path of aging
The Running to Daylight Foundation is committed to:
- Empowering elderly individuals by advocating for better healthcare access and removing barriers that prevent them from getting necessary treatment.
- Facilitating access to preventive, ongoing, and emergency healthcare services, so seniors are never left without critical support.
- Partnering with local health providers to make transportation, financial resources, and in-home care more available for those who need it most.
- Raising awareness about the challenges seniors face, inspiring policy changes that prioritize their health and safety.
We believe every person deserves to grow old with dignity and access to the healthcare services that can improve their quality of life.
Some facts to consider
In Ontario, approximately 1 in 5 people is now over the age of 65, reflecting the province’s aging population.
A substantial number of elderly individuals live alone. According to recent data, about 30% of individuals aged 65 and older in Ontario live by themselves, with the proportion even higher among senior women and those aged 85 and above.
The incidence of stroke continues to rise as the population ages. The Canadian Stroke Network projected a significant increase in stroke cases, with rates expected to rise by over 60% within the next 20 years. Baby boomers, now aging into their 70s and 80s, face unprecedented challenges in caring for elderly parents affected by strokes and other chronic conditions.
The time to act is now.
The Running to Daylight Foundation is dedicated to providing essential support and resources for our elderly community. With your help, we can ensure that Ontario’s seniors have the support, opportunities, and hope they need to face their healthcare challenges in the 21st century.
Together, we can make a meaningful difference.
